[updated] looking for advice/feedback on my 2 month Europe itinerary
Our take
As the excitement builds for a summer adventure in Europe, many young travelers find themselves seeking feedback on their itineraries, hoping to strike the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation. One such traveler, a 23-year-old looking to lounge on beaches, party, and delve into history, shared a detailed two-month itinerary. Despite receiving feedback that the plan felt rushed, this traveler is determined to refine their route, showcasing a blend of vibrant cities and cultural hotspots. This enthusiasm mirrors the sentiments of many explorers, as seen in articles like Solo Trip Spain/Portugal Itinerary – Thoughts and Spain vs Spain + Portugal (15 days, mid-June) — itinerary feedback?, where the quest for the ideal travel plan resonates deeply with the adventurous spirit of the Gen Z demographic.
The proposed journey spans iconic cities such as London, Barcelona, and Berlin, each rich with opportunities for vibrant nightlife and significant historical sites. It's clear that the traveler’s priorities are set on experiencing the energetic pulse of urban life rather than the tranquility of rural landscapes. This focus is not uncommon among young travelers who often seek to maximize their experiences within a limited timeframe. However, the challenge lies in ensuring that the itinerary doesn't morph into a whirlwind of rushing from one destination to the next, risking burnout before the adventure truly begins. The essential question arises: how can one embrace the thrill of exploration while still allowing time to soak in the unique atmosphere of each place?
Moreover, the feedback received from peers highlights a crucial aspect of modern travel—community input can significantly enhance the planning process. It’s not just about visiting landmarks; it’s about creating memorable experiences with a squad of friends or fellow adventurers. The traveler’s desire to lounge, party, and explore is emblematic of a broader trend where the social aspect of travel is prioritized. This reflects a shift where the journey is as much about the connections made and experiences shared as it is about the destinations themselves. The insights from the community echo a common refrain: "slow down, enjoy the moment," which can be pivotal in making the most out of every city visited.
As the traveler refines their itinerary, it’s essential to consider the importance of balance. While the thrill of ticking off famous sites can be exhilarating, incorporating downtime is equally vital. Cities like Lisbon and Barcelona offer stunning beaches and vibrant nightlife, but they also invite travelers to relax and savor the local culture. This balance can lead to a more fulfilling adventure, allowing travelers to embody the “main character” energy they seek. Prioritizing experiences that encourage connection and reflection can transform a rushed itinerary into an unforgettable journey.
Looking ahead, the question remains: how can travelers cultivate a sense of adventure while respecting their own need for rest and rejuvenation? As more people embark on similar journeys, the conversation around mindful travel will likely continue to grow. By embracing both the energetic and tranquil aspects of exploration, travelers can create a richer narrative for their adventures, ensuring that each moment is both vibrant and meaningful. The journey is about more than just destinations; it’s about the memories created and the stories shared along the way.
I posted a few days ago a rough itinerary for a 2 month Europe trip I am going on next summer but got a lot of feedback saying it’s way too rushed , I’m just seeing cities etc etc. I cut some places and added a bit of information to justify why I’ve picked the places I’ve picked
The purpose of this trip as a 23yo is to lounge on beaches, party, and explore historical sites . At this point in time I’m not prioritizing rural or very small cities , however it is something I’d like to do in the future . That being said, this is what I have in order

- Spain vs Spain + Portugal (15 days, mid-June) — itinerary feedback?Hi, I’ve been reading past threads, but I’m still unsure how to structure this trip and would really appreciate some feedback. Trip details: ~15 days total (mid-June, somewhat flexible) Flying from the US (likely into Barcelona, out of Lisbon) Budget: mid-range (mix of hotels + occasional nicer stays) Interests: food, walkable cities, history, some architecture, not big on rushing or checking boxes What I’ve researched so far: I came up with two rough options: Option A (Spain only): Barcelona (4 days) Madrid (3 days) Seville (3–4 days) Granada (2 days) Option B (Spain + Portugal): Barcelona (3–4 days) Seville (3 days) Lisbon (3 days) Porto (2–3 days) My questions: Does Option B feel too rushed given the travel time between Spain and Portugal? If sticking to Spain, would you prioritize Granada over somewhere like Valencia or more time in Madrid? Any adjustments you’d make to improve pacing? submitted by /u/Existential_boba9352 [link] [comments]
- Torn on Adding Lisbon to a Barcelona/Mallorca TripMy GF (Late 20s) and myself (Early 30s) have been wanting to travel to Spain for a while now, specifically Barcelona and Mallorca. Due to her work schedule, we are only able to go in late August (I know, I know) so we are prepared for the crowds and everything that comes with it. We have heard great things about Lisbon and figured we would throw that into the trip too. So right now we have flights into Barcelona and out of Lisbon. The problem is that gives us 2 full days in one location, and 3 full days in the other 2. We definitely want to spend at least 3 full days in Mallorca, but I am unsure how to split the other days or if we should cut out Lisbon and focus on Barcelona and Mallorca. I know there are plenty of day trips we could take from Barcelona as well to explore. Current Proposed Itinerary: Barcelona Day 1 (Land at 10am local time), Day 2, Day 3 Travel to Mallorca Day 4 Mallorca Day 5, Day 6, Day 7 Travel to Lisbon Day 8 Lisbon Day 9, Day 10, Day 11 Travel Home Day 12 We want to enjoy some great food, cool bars (day drinking or a drink after dinner, no nightclubs) and enjoy the european coast/beaches. I surf (part of the draw to lisbon) but otherwise we are fine at a beach bar or club. We are fairly adventurous and like taking in the local sites and history and walking around, but I don't want to plan a trip around historical sites. The food, drinks, and actual activities are more important. Does anyone have any insight or have done this trip or similar? We will be disappointed in Lisbon? Happy to answer any clarifying questions, and thank you in advance! EDIT: We can both get by with Spanish but would touch up on it and take some lessons/tutoring before the trip. I have never tried to speak Portuguese, but would plan to pick it up at a beginner level. submitted by /u/CaptPatSparrow [link] [comments]
- 84 day Schengen Area journey. Lisbon-Paris then onward. Ireland or Georgia.Hello thanks to those who can give advice and or contribute to this. I land in Lisbon on June 2nd coming from the US. I am excited to make this journey and to explore the great spots within the Schengen Countries. As someone who served in the military I have always loved the cultures of other Countries. This is just somewhat of a rough draft but places I would love to explore Sicily and Italy being the biggest one. I am 44 so not to young and I am in no rush to do this from start to finish. I am just curious and would like advice. Open to ideas. I will most likely use flights as my means between areas but not against any other forms of transportation. Portugal-Lisbon and Porto. Spain-Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona. Italy-Sicily, Naples, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Milan, Tirano (this is where I would like to take the train into the Mountains. Switzerland-Lake Moritz, Zurich Germany-Munich, Nuremberg Czech Republic-Prague Germany-Berlin Neterlands-Amstredam Belgium-Brussels France-Paris I would then either goto Dublin, Ireland or head off to Tbilisi, Georgia and wait for good weather to head to SE Asia. I have not looked into other options. But I just would like to travel around long term. I love culture and meeting new people. I am in no rush to do this as I could very well just stay in Italy the whole time, haha. I will for sure be coming back to explore more as well so this isn't like a once in a lifetime have to do thing. Just want to narrow down what to do and see. Thanks in advance for your help and ideas. Side note: I am not against any other means of transportation and really no budget. submitted by /u/hawk5668 [link] [comments]
