Help with my itinerary in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile
Our take
Hello, I am a 20 year old male who is planning on traveling to Peru, Bolivia, and Chile after my summer study abroad in Buenos Aires
I have formulated a rough draft of my itinerary, the only thing I have booked is my 4 day Inca trail tour. Aside from that, everything else is up in the air. I really am looking forward to seeing Salar de Uyuni, Lake Titicaca, the Nazca Lines, Amazon Rainforest, stargazing in the Atacama, and much more
I have about 6 weeks with a bit of wiggle room with some extra days, especially after the Inca trail hike. Here is my itinerary, I am open to any criticism and ideas for other locations

4: Paracas
5:Huacachina
6: Nazca and overnight bus to Arequipa
7-9: Arequipa, overnight bus to Cusco
10-14: Cusco
15-18: Hiking Inca Trail, spend night 18 in Cusco
19-22: Puerto Maldonado Amazon tour, spend night 22 in Cusco
23: Sun route to Puno
24-25: Taquile Island overnight tour
26: Finish tour, overnight bus to La Paz
27-29: La Paz, overnight bus to Sucre
30-31: Sucre
32: Potosi
33: Uyuni
34-35: Salt flats tour

39-42: Santiago

- Peru Itinerary for JulyHey everyone! I'm going to Peru for the first time in July, and I'm looking for advice and insight on my itinerary. Days 1 - 5 are on my own: Day 1 - Arrive in Lima in the afternoon Day 2 - Paracas full day tour from Lima (I really want to see penguins on the Ballestas Islands) Days 3-5 - Fly to Puerto Maldonado and stay at a jungle lodge for 3 nights Day 6 - Fly back to Lima and join a gadventures solo-ish peru tour group Days 7-13 are planned out through the tour: Day 7 - Day in Lima(Miraflores & Barranco) Day 8 - Fly to Cusco and transfer to Ollantaytambo Day 9 - Sacred Valley tour Day 10 - Ollantaytambo & Aguas Calientes (free time in Aguas Calientes) Day 11 - Machu Picchu Day 12 - Free day in Cusco. (Thinking about visiting the Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary) Day 13 - Cusco city tour Days 14 - 16 are on my own: Day 14 - early flight to Arequipa Day 15 - Colca Canyon full day tour Day 16 - Spend the morning/early afternoon in Arequipa and fly back to Lima in the evening Day 17 - Fly home Also, if anyone has done the gadventures solo-ish Peru trip, I'd love to hear your thoughts. - Revised Cusco focused itinerary for opinions/thoughtsHi, Following previous responses and further reflection on how much I want a 'busy' checkbox tour vs deeper experience, I have decided that I will probably focus much more on Cusco/Sacred valley and other hikes. I am keen to hear specifically what I should prioritise within that itinerary/any unique or less well known ideas. Further context for me - I am relatively fit, but recently did Acatenango and went from totally fine at 3000m to feeling very ill after 3200m until the next morning, so I suspect while I don't tend to struggle at all with 6+ hr hikes, I do handle altitude badly. Have been learning spanish and would love to make use of that (limited vocab but A2/B1 level at present) and/or potentially take a few more 1:1 classes in Cusco, and would really like a mix of culture/history/adventure. Not looking to splurge where I can budget, but not looking to cut out anything genuinely worthwhile either even if it is expensive (e.g. top class stargazing, cheapish flights that save a day or two) Draft itinerary: May 5 - fly to Lima May 6 - walking tour ?food tour in evening vs try to book a world class restaurant if still space May 7 - Fly to cusco, move down to Ollantaytambo same day for easier altitude adjustment May 8 - Explore ollantaytambo May 9 - ?ideas, end at aguas caliente May 10 - buy tickets for machu pichu in the morning since no other option, unclear what to do May 10 afterwards, likely nothing May 11 - Machu Pichu, return to cusco May 12 + 13 - Cusco (ideas?) May 14 - Humantay lake May 15 - Relax, ?Spanish class May 16 - Rainbow mountain May 17,18,19 - Cusco (ideas?) May 20 - Fly to La Paz May 21 - La Paz May 22 - Fly to uyuni flats May 23 - 3 day tour to Atacama May 25 - arrive atacama May 26 - stargazing tour if possible since will be a new moon May 27, 28, 29 - Atacama ?day tour trips vs pick multiday tour (ideas welcome) May 30 - Fly to Santiago May 31 - Leave Santiago TLDR: - Is 13 days cusco plenty to really explore the area and worth the loss of world-class food in Lima or other tickboxes along the coastline - What do people actually suggest as activities/how intense are these hikes? submitted by /u/Logical-Ladder [link] [comments]
- 3 weeks in Peru: can you rate my itineraryI’m still unsure if I should go to Arequipa, because I usually prefer having more of a base instead of moving around too much, and as a solo traveler I’d also like to meet people and do activities. May 15–17: Lima May 18–19: Paracas May 19–20: Huacachina May 21: Arrive in Cusco / rest day May 22–25: Cusco as a base (day trips / meeting people / exploring) May 26–29: 4-day Puerto Maldonado / Amazon trip from Cusco May 29 (evening): Back to Cusco May 30: Ollantaytambo May 31: Aguas Calientes June 1: Machu Picchu (9:00 entry) + back to Cusco June 2–3: Cusco June 4: Early morning flight Cusco → Lima June 5: Flight Lima → Home Does this itinerary look good for 3 weeks, or do you think I’d regret skipping Arequipa? If I do go to Arequipa, I’d probably stay there for 2–3 days at most, and I’d do that whole part by bus. So from Ica to Arequipa by bus and then Arequipa to Cusco by bus, which is why I’m unsure if it’s really worth it. submitted by /u/Physical-Court6347 [link] [comments]
- [Advice] 10-Day Bolivia Itinerary (Santa Cruz -> Sucre -> Uyuni -> La Paz)Hi everyone! I just booked my flights for Bolivia this May, and I’ve put together the following itinerary. I’d love to get your opinion on the pace, and I have a few questions regarding bus logistics between cities. Since my flight times basically "eat up" the arrival and departure days, I’ve planned the trip based on full days. Day 1: Arrival in Santa Cruz de la Sierra Logistics: Arrive at VVI airport at 20:25. Transfer to hotel and rest. Day 2: Santa Cruz & Flight to Sucre Morning/Afternoon: Currency exchange (parallel/blue market) + Plaza 24 de Septiembre and the Cathedral. Flight: Short afternoon flight to Sucre (2,810m) to begin acclimatization. Day 3: Sucre - The White City Afternoon: Explore the colonial historic center. Highlight: Sunset on the rooftops of San Felipe Neri Convent (looking for those high-contrast white dome shots). Day 4: Sucre & Cal Orck’o Morning: Cal Orck’o (Cretaceous Park) to see the massive cliff with over 5,000 dinosaur footprints. Afternoon: ASUR Indigenous Art Museum + Sunset at Mirador de la Recoleta. Day 5: Potosí & Transfer to Uyuni Morning: Bus or Trufi (shared taxi) to Potosí (3h trip, climbing to 4,060m). Visit San Lorenzo Church. Afternoon: Casa Nacional de la Moneda (Colonial Mint Museum). Evening: 4h bus to Uyuni. Overnight stay in Uyuni to rest before the expedition. Day 6: Salar de Uyuni Expedition (Day 1/3) Train Cemetery, Colchani, and Salt Flat. Overnight in a Salt Hotel. Day 7: Salar de Uyuni Expedition (Day 2/3) Altiplanic lagoons (flamingos) and Laguna Colorada. Day 8: Salar de Uyuni Expedition (Day 3/3) Sol de Mañana Geysers, Laguna Verde, and return to Uyuni. Logistics: 21:00 night bus (Todo Turismo) to La Paz. Day 9: La Paz Morning: Explore the city via Teleférico (Red and Purple lines for the best views). Afternoon: Witches' Market and Calle Sagarnaga. Evening: Attend Cholitas Wrestling. Day 10: Departure Logistics: 09:00 transfer to El Alto Airport (LPB) for the 12:00 flight to São Paulo. My main questions: Is this itinerary realistic? Is it too rushed, or is the pace okay? Buses: Can I buy all my bus tickets on the spot at the terminals? I’m particularly worried about the Sucre -> Potosí -> Uyuni connection. Uyuni Tour: I’m planning to book it before the trip. I’m currently talking to local agencies. What's a fair price? I’m open to recommendations for reliable agencies. Thanks in advance for your help! submitted by /u/camomilow [link] [comments]
