3 weeks in Peru: can you rate my itinerary
Our take
I’m still unsure if I should go to Arequipa, because I usually prefer having more of a base instead of moving around too much, and as a solo traveler I’d also like to meet people and do activities.
May 15–17: Lima
May 18–19: Paracas
May 19–20: Huacachina
May 21: Arrive in Cusco / rest day
May 22–25: Cusco as a base (day trips / meeting people / exploring)
May 26–29: 4-day Puerto Maldonado / Amazon trip from Cusco
May 29 (evening): Back to Cusco
May 30: Ollantaytambo
May 31: Aguas Calientes
June 1: Machu Picchu (9:00 entry) + back to Cusco
June 2–3: Cusco
June 4: Early morning flight Cusco → Lima
June 5: Flight Lima → Home
Does this itinerary look good for 3 weeks, or do you think I’d regret skipping Arequipa? If I do go to Arequipa, I’d probably stay there for 2–3 days at most, and I’d do that whole part by bus. So from Ica to Arequipa by bus and then Arequipa to Cusco by bus, which is why I’m unsure if it’s really worth it.

- Cusco to La Paz - where to see in between?I have three nights spare/free on a solo holiday I'm taking to see Peru and Bolivia in October this year. I'm currently working out how best to use this time slot. I need to be in La Paz for the 13th October for another trip that is already booked to see the country, and I am leaving Cusco on the 10th October. Visiting and going to Lake Titicaca by bus, is the most likely and I am thinking of going there for 2 to 3 nights (Puna is looking a likely spot), with some day trips from there, before moving on to La Paz. There is no flexibility in time frames and the budget is pretty good. Recommendations on how people have visited this area previously to use this time, day trips or services; and do so on the journey from Cusco to La Paz with the best places and trips in between those two, would be greatly appreciated. Companies used for travel would also be great. Thank you in advance. submitted by /u/Gavlarr101 [link] [comments]
- Trip in Latin America this JulyHi all! I (19M) am going to be doing an exchange semester in Mexico city this Aug-December. I’m from Ireland and I want to make the most of my time while I’m there. I’m not sure if I’ll get much time to visit neighbouring/ other latin american countries while I’m there, so i want to take a trip beforehand. I have three main ideas currently but flight prices keep fluctuating and my mind keeps changing. The first is to fly from dublin to lima in the last week of july and spend 9 days there and then get a flight to cdmx. I’d rather go to cusco and climb machu pichu but i dont have the time or money for that just yet, so I might skip that. The second is to fly to medellin and spend a week there and then take a flight to cdmx. the next idea I have is to fly to guatamala city in the middle of july, spend maybe a week in guatamala before i cross the border into belize, spend some time in belize and then try and make my eay to chetumal in mexico, where I will then get a domestic flight to cdmx. does this sound doable to anyone in a 2 1/2 week span? or am i being optimistic? Does anyone have any better suggestions? All input/advice is welcome!! Thank you! (sorry for formatting//mobile user) submitted by /u/Outrageous_Unit_5652 [link] [comments]
