Tips for Johannesburg if part of tour group
I’m (34f)doing some research on tour groups for the Okavango delta. Most if not all of the ones I’ve found start and or end in Johannesburg. The idea of being there does make me nervous given the safety concerns, but how is it as part of a group?
The main set up I see for groups is that you meet up at your first accommodations for that night, maybe go get dinner together, and then head for Botswana the following day. Same goes for if you end the trip in Johannesburg too.
For trips that started in Botswana or Zimbabwe, prices were higher but not insane, but flight plans I looked at had me stopping at five different cities, or had me stuck at an airport for a whole day.
I’m now seeing this as a situation where I might not be able to eat my cake and have it too. What would a night in Johannesburg be like? This is assuming that I’m going to be joining up with a tour group and the only time I would really be alone is getting a pre-arranged ride from the airport to the hotel.
I’d just like to weigh my options.
