Colombian immersion

I’ll be in Colombia by May at the latest. What are some of the best ways to immerse myself in the culture? I’ve traveled all over, but I still feel like I’ve failed to really learn the cultures and people of the places I’ve been. What are some tips I could use? I’ve met great people on my travels, but most of them weren’t actually from the country itself. Maybe there are unique opportunities or things I’m not thinking of. I suppose this can apply to any country too.
