Two weeks in Brazil - Help
Our take
I’ll be in Brazil for two weeks in June and am overwhelmed with options. I’ll be flying in and out of Rio and would like to devote some time to the city and some of the surrounding area (Paraty, Petropolis, etc).
I would also like to explore at least one other part of the country and have a few options that caught my eye. Wanted to get feedback on what would be best to combine with Rio:
• Minas Gerias - I’d probably fly up to Belo Horizonte and make my way back down to Rio. Seems like some cool spots to explore along the way like Ouro Preto, Inhotim, Tiradentes, etc
• Salvador and Chapada Diamantini - I would fly up to Salvador, spend a day or two there and take a bus out to Lençóis to hike in the national park for three days. Was wondering if you can do independent day hikes in the park or if you need a guide?
• Sāo Luis and Lençóis Maranhenses - The National park seems really cool and pretty easy to access. Saw Sāo Luis is a UNESCO site and wanted to ask if people think it’s worth visiting on its own?
• The Pantanal - I’d really love to visit the Pantanal but all the tours I’ve seen seem prohibitively expensive. If anyone knows how to visit on the cheap, I’d really love to see it.
I’m just looking for general thoughts on if any of these would make for good additions to my trip or if there are other parts of the country worth exploring during the time I’ll be there.
Thanks!

- I have about 7 days to spare in South America. Where should I go?Hey fellow travellers! Long story short, my wife and I are travelling to Brazil in March/April next year to visit some friends and family. We've already been to Brazil before, absolutely love the country, and plan on exploring different areas. This time around however, we really feel like adding another country to the itinerary, and seeing a different side of South America. Ideally, this is what I'm looking for: → Somewhere that won't make us feel like "we haven't even scratched the surface" after 7 days. → A country that might have a cool mix of culture/history/great food/safety → Ideally, something that won't break the bank, as we'll already spend a lot in Brazil. → Good weather around March/April. Our ideas so far: → Colombia: We feel like we could maybe squeeze Bogotá/Medellín/Cartagena/Salento area within about a week. We are both coffee junkies, so the coffee region alone sounds really interesting. → Mexico: I know, technically not South America. We are considering CDMX & Oaxaca, though we might feel like we are missing a lot... Are any of these great choices given our preferences? Do you have any other suggestions that might be even better for us? Thank you! submitted by /u/DundieAwardsWinner [link] [comments]
- Trip to Brazil in September (Rio, ilha grande, Lencois Maranhens, iguazu falls)My boyfriend (M22) and myself (F20) go for an annual out of Europe trip every year (we live in Europe). We've previously been to Indonesia and China in September, Florida in November, Australia and Dubai in December. This year we can only travel mid august or September. We're planning to go for around 16 days including travel days. Due to the current situation and also monsoon climates we're not choosing somewhere in south east Asia but trying to find somewhere else and like the idea of going to Brazil. I'm quite ok with planning what to do, where to go, what to see, ect. I'm just worried about the rain and weather temperature as I'm not finding much information about it. From what I've understood there would probably be some rainy days, and that's ok. I just want to know if maybe it wouldn't be as hot as we would like since quite a few of our plans would be based around the sea for eg beach days, boat trips ect. We would also want to try the paragliding or hanggliding while we're in Rio and that's very dependent on the wind. I know it's a bit early to try and predict the weather but some understanding of it would be great, to see if Brazil is an option for us or not, as we're young and want to make the most out of this big trip. We loved Indonesia in September the weather was warm and sunny perfect for the beach activities although we did get 2 days of rain. We also aren't sure if travel in up north to Lencois Maranhens would make sense or not. I would appreciate any advise or tips regarding this trip 💗💗 submitted by /u/user26282 [link] [comments]
