Traveling to the US with visa in maiden name + Marriage Certificate. Recent experiences?

Our take

Hey everyone! ✨ I'm excited to share that I'm getting married soon and will be changing my last name! I currently hold a valid US visa in my maiden name and plan to travel with my old passport along with my marriage certificate (and a translation) to show the name change. Has anyone navigated this recently? Were there any issues at boarding or with Customs and Border Protection? Also, should I book my flights in my maiden name to match my passport?

Hello all✨

I'm getting married soon and I will be changing my last name.

I have a valid US visa in my current passport (maiden name). I plan to travel with my old passport and my marriage certificate (+ translation) to prove the name change.

Has anyone done this recently? Any issues at boarding or with CBP? Also, I assume I should book the flights in my maiden name to match the passport?

Thanks! 🎀
