Polignano a Mare or Santa Margherita Ligure?

Our take

Are you ready for an unforgettable adventure in Italy with your girlfriends? As you plan your sun-soaked getaway, you’re torn between the stunning Polignano a Mare and the familiar charm of Santa Margherita Ligure. While Santa Margherita has its beauty, you’re seeking a lively atmosphere filled with excitement, delicious food, and the chance to dance the night away. Polignano a Mare might just be the vibrant escape you're looking for, with its breathtaking cliffs and energetic vibe.

Hi! I'm trying to plan a few days in Italy with 2 of my girlfriends (3 girls late 20s - we're meeting for a few days before our other Europe plans)

I've been to Santa margherita before briefly and loved the vibes but didn't find it to have wowed me, it was beautiful but also didn't feel like there was much going on.

We want to go somewhere in Italy that's by the water and I'm debating between Polignano a Mare or going back to Santa Margherita. I stayed in Camogli last time I was in the Italian Riviera so im thinking maybe staying in Santa Margherita would be different than Camogli.

We're looking to go end of August and to just have a few days in the sun on the beach, eating good food and hitting a few bars and maybe dancing one night. We want to be somewhere lively and with people our age.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Polignano a mare and if this would be a good option? Also open to any other suggestions, thank you so much!!
