October getaway advise question
Our take
So me and my husband (both M, 31 yo, Netherlands based) are looking for a warm (20+ °C) destination for 7 to 10 days during the period of 15 - 30 october, but we want to go somewhere not overcrowded or where we would feel unwelcome like Valencia or Canary Islands.
Preferably we don't want to spend too much time on flights, 4-5 hours per flight/6-7 hours train is the maximum. A good mix of Culture (nice towns, good food and maybe a museum) & Nature has our preference. A beach day is optional.
Last year we went to Malta & Gozo, of which Gozo was less touristic than Valletta, Mdina and Rabat and we loved that Island!
We also visited a friend on Cran Canaria earlier that year, which is a place I would not soon pick to return to.
We have been thinking of Italy (Especially Sardinia, Sicily or somewhere else southern than Rome) or Greece. Turkey or North Africa (Marocco, Tunesia or Egypt) also crossed minds, but we heavily doubt these options because of the stance and or laws against Queer people).
So Sicily, except a towns like Taormina, seems a good fit. We could go visit the south part and go for a day trip to Etna.
However, we wondered if there could be other places in or close to europe we overlook in our search.
For now, budget isn't important, duration of flights/trains is.
Thanks in advance!
