Not sure what is up, but not really excited for my upcoming Romania trip in May.
Our take
I'm currently living in Ankara, and somewhat on a whim I booked a cheap direct flight to Bucharest. I'm thinking of spending just a night in Bucharest, and then going to Brasov from there and using it as a base (likely for around 5 days). The entire trip is about a week long.
A part of me is somewhat considering ditching the ticket and perhaps flying somewhere else (perhaps Albania, Czech Republic, or Slovenia). Hard to explain, but certain places somewhat pull me in (and Romania did when I initially booked it).
Not sure what's going on with me : ) Might anyone be able to share any insight / experiences they've had in Romania (or if they've ever had a similar feeling, but ended up enjoying the trip). I do enjoy mountains and castles, so I figure I'll probably enjoy it, but for whatever reason other places are pulling me in at the moment.
Sorry if this is somewhat rambly....I've been a bit sick, and busy with work : )

- One week travel between Bucharest and Brasov / RomaniaHi people, I have planned a one week trip to Romania, from Firday to Friday, and after some thinking, I've decided to stick between two "bases": Bucharest and Brasov. Not to keen on spending alot of time travelling during the trip itself, which is why I left some places out. I have pretty much planned something like: land and spend a few days in Bucharest, -> visit Sinaia on the way to Brasov via train, -> continue to Brasov via train same day -> spend time in Brasov -> then either return for one last night in Bucharest or travel same day as flight. Initally I have planned Fri-Sun in Bucharest, having Sunday as the travel day, then spend Mon-Thur in Brasov, then travel back to Bucharest on Thursday. What do you think, is this "too chilled"? submitted by /u/Winter-Suspect-5576 [link] [comments]
- First trip to Romania - itinerary feedback and suggestionsHello everyone! I am planning on traveling to Romania this August for the first time, and I am super excited! I will have 2 full weeks, so I'm hoping to get a good feel for the country and experience as many amazing things as I can. I am not planning on renting a car, instead traveling by train or bus to each city. My current itinerary is largely Transylvania based, but I'm looking for feedback on the route I'm planning, how much time to spend in each place, and maybe any suggestions for other cities or things to see. I do think I would like the cities of Iasi, Oradea and Timisoara, but I'm not sure if they're a little too far out of the way and I don't want to be traveling to a new city every single day. I also would like to experience some of the smaller rural villages in places like Maramures or Bucovina, but I am wondering if it is tough to do without a car or an expensive private tour. Any feedback for this is helpful and appreciated! Here is my current plan. DAY 1: Arrival in Bucharest (light sightseeing) DAY 2: Bucharest DAY 3 : Bucharest (possible day trip) DAY 4: Travel to Sinaia, visit Peles castle and surrounding areas, overnight in Sinaia DAY 5: Travel to Brasov, sightseeing & overnight there DAY 6: Brasov DAY 7: Brasov (day trip to Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, Bear Sanctuary) DAY 8: Travel to Sibiu, overnight there DAY 9: Sibiu DAY 10: travel to Sighisoara, sightseeing DAY 11: Sighisoara DAY 12: travel to Cluj, sightseeing & overnight there DAY 13: Cluj (day trip to Corvin Castle, Alba Iulia, Salt Mine) DAY 14: Cluj (overnight train back to Bucharest for return flight) EDIT: Incorrect location name submitted by /u/bobbybev95 [link] [comments]
