Money exchange Albânia

Our take

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m gearing up for an exciting trip to Corfu and am thinking of exploring Albania for a few days. I’d love your insights on money matters: Should I bring euros to exchange there, or get Albanian currency in advance? How widely accepted are card payments? Where can I find the best exchange rates? Are ATMs easy to locate with reasonable fees? Also, is it common for hotels to request cash payment upon arrival?

Hey everyone 👋

I’m planning a trip to Corfu and thinking about hopping over to Albania for a few days. I have a few questions about money and exchange, and I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done this before:

- Is it better to bring euros and exchange there, or get local currency in advance?

- Is card payment widely accepted in Albania, or is cash still king?

- Where do you usually get the best exchange rates (banks, exchange offices, etc.)?

- Are ATMs easy to find and with reasonable fees?

- Does it make sense to withdraw money in Corfu to use in Albania?

Also, I booked a hotel on Booking, but they’re asking me to pay in cash upon arrival, is this normal in Albania? Should I be concerned, or is it a common practice? And do they usually accept euros or only local currency?

Any extra tips about prices, costs, or common pitfalls are very welcome 🙏

Thanks a lot!
