| | Hello 👋🏻 My girlfriend and I are travelling to Morocco soon. Our first stop is Marrakech for 2 days, then Casablanca. We’re flying into Marrakech because it was the only direct option, and my girlfriend already has a list of places she really wants to see there. I’ve been reading a lot of posts here and elsewhere, and to be honest some of the stories about scams, intimidation, and tourists being targeted or even life threatening situations in the medina made me very very scared. Because of that, I wanted to ask people who have been there recently for practical advice. Most of the places she saved are in or around the medina/Jemaa el-Fnaa area. For a couple visiting during the day only, is it reasonable to do those places by going directly to the nearest drop-off point, visiting specific spots, and then leaving again, rather than wandering around freely? Is visiting the medina in daylight generally fine if you stay aware and keep a clear route without wandering and looking lost or being on the phone? I also have a camera with me, would you avoid bringing one into the medina and just use a phone instead? We already decided we won’t be out after sunset, so all outings would be in the mornings/midday. I’m not trying to insult Marrakech or Morocco I’m just looking for practical advice so we can plan this in a smart (and safest) way. Thanks a lot. [link] [comments] |

Curious what people would prioritize with just three full days. We get in around 8 pm. - Summer trip. Some doubtsGood evening, everyone. This summer I’m planning a trip to Morocco lasting about two weeks. I’d like to spend around 3–4 days in Marrakech, 2–3 days in the desert (Merzouga?), 3 days in Essaouira and 4 days in Fez. Is this feasible? Would you recommend spending less time in some places and more in others (for example, I’ve heard there isn’t much to see in Essaouira, although you can do a lot of ‘wandering around the streets’, which is something I also enjoy. However, I’m mainly interested in museums, mosques, historic districts, etc.) I also have a few questions; mainly: how would you recommend getting around your country? Should we use public transport or hire a car? And what would you recommend for accommodation in the desert? Is there an agency or similar that organises this? - Solo itinerary in southeastern MoroccoHello, I’ll be traveling to Morocco for a week in June, landing directly in Ouarzazate, where I’ll pick up a Dacia Logan. My itinerary, as shown in the picture, is to connect the following points of interest: • Ouarzazate → Skoura • Skoura → Kelaat M’Gouna • Kelaat M’Gouna → Dades • Dades → Tinghir • Tinghir → Erfoud / Rissani • Rissani → Merzouga Then return to Ouarzazate by making a loop through Tazarine, and then either Nkob or Zagora. I have a few questions: • Looking at Google Earth, most of the roads seem paved and in good condition — can you confirm that? Is the route easy enough with a Dacia Logan? My only concern is the N17 section between Tazarine and Zagora, which looks a bit like a dirt track. • The route seems fairly classic and touristy, so I assume I’ll meet quite a few tourists and locals along the way, which reassures me a bit about traveling alone. I also don’t plan to drive at night. In your opinion, is there any security concern doing all this solo? • I haven’t decided yet where I’ll stay. Probably two nights in Merzouga, and for the rest I’d like to stop more spontaneously wherever I feel like, without planning everything in advance. If you have recommendations for ideal stopover towns, I’m interested. • Finally, I know June is very hot, but nothing unbearable, right? I’ll have air conditioning in the car. - Planning 10 days in Morocco this October history lover from Canada, want to eat everything. Does my route make sense?Hey r/travel! I've been obsessing over this trip for weeks and finally pulling the trigger. Flying into Marrakech from Toronto and I want to make sure my routing isn't completely insane before I book anything. About me: Solo traveler, early 30s, been to Turkey and Portugal so I'm comfortable with busy medinas and getting a little lost. Morocco has been on my list forever — mainly because of the history and architecture, but honestly the food might be the bigger draw at this point.
