México, Belize, Guatemala Itinerary Recommendations

Hey everyone! I’m planning an exciting trip to Central America in November 2026 and would love your feedback on my itinerary. I’m a 25-year-old guy looking to stay in hostels, and I’ve got some backpacking experience from Southeast Asia. I want to ensure my route makes sense logistically and isn’t too stressful. I enjoy exploring, but I don’t want to spend my entire vacation rushing from one place to another. Any suggestions on pace, must-see highlights, or safety tips would be greatly appreciated.

- Trip in Latin America this JulyHi all! I (19M) am going to be doing an exchange semester in Mexico city this Aug-December. I’m from Ireland and I want to make the most of my time while I’m there. I’m not sure if I’ll get much time to visit neighbouring/ other latin american countries while I’m there, so i want to take a trip beforehand. I have three main ideas currently but flight prices keep fluctuating and my mind keeps changing. The first is to fly from dublin to lima in the last week of july and spend 9 days there and then get a flight to cdmx. I’d rather go to cusco and climb machu pichu but i dont have the time or money for that just yet, so I might skip that. The second is to fly to medellin and spend a week there and then take a flight to cdmx. the next idea I have is to fly to guatamala city in the middle of july, spend maybe a week in guatamala before i cross the border into belize, spend some time in belize and then try and make my eay to chetumal in mexico, where I will then get a domestic flight to cdmx. does this sound doable to anyone in a 2 1/2 week span? or am i being optimistic? - Trying to decide on which Central American country to visitI am taking a month off from Thanksgiving - Christmas this year. I already have plans to sail around the San Blas islands for a week. I have looked extensively into Roatan Honduras recently and really like the looks of that. My initial plan was to spend time in Puerto Viejo also but I’ve already been to CR (pacific side) and don’t want to short myself a better experience somewhere else. Ideally I’m looking for a place with pristine beaches and immaculate waters to snorkel/dive in. Generally speaking a chill/laidback beach vibe is what I’m into, but also like the ability to go out and meet people where there is a good nightlife. A mixture of the two. I’m open to going somewhere more inland also if there is a certain experience that’s a once in a lifetime sight.
