Hi everyone. I am trying to plan a solo 2-week trip after Croatia this summer and looking for recommendations. For reference, I am a 25-year-old male.
Current plan:
- Portugal with family (June 4–12)
- Croatia with friends until June 22
After that I want to solo travel for ~2 weeks somewhere nearby without doing expensive long-haul flights to somewhere like Asia.
Right now I’m considering places like Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania, or just going to Greece or mayb even Istanbul.
I’ve already been to Prague, Vienna, and spent lots of time in Italy as well.
Looking for:
- good solo travel/social atmosphere
- nice scenery/beaches
- some nightlife but not only partying
- not too rushed logistically
Honestly open to everything. I'd appreciate any input!

- Montengro or southern Albania ? Solo travelI was wanting to go to Eastern Europe in June-July for 4ish weeks as a solo 22f traveler. This would be very budget friendly as I’m a broke uni student lol My route would be flying into Rome then to Sarajevo as it’s cheaper all together than flying into any other countries, then mostar- kotor- budva(?)-shkoder-valbona theth hike- Tirana- lake orhid(?) southern Albania (ksamil, himare, sarande) - back to Tirana then home Okay so I don’t have the funds or time to do everything I just mentioned unless I do it really rushed which I don’t want to do. I will stay in kotor for at least a night because going from mostar straight to shkoder is really messy and takes ages so if I’m going through I might as well, however, idk whether to stay for longer and go to budva as well because hostels are 50-60 aud a night and it seems realllyy expensive, if I do this I would probably cut southern Albania off. My last and only solo travel trip was 2 years ago and I spent a long time in Croatia which fucked me financially even though it was my favourite place 😭, the main thing that got me were the entry prices into the bars and clubs (I think I actually paid 60€ entry one night) and drinks, which I assume would be similar in Montenegro. - Abroad with SO recommendationsHello! This is an extremely exciting post for me. My (22M) GF (22F) has just recently told me she wants to get out of her comfort zone a bit and travel with me. I am so unbelievably excited, and my thoughts and ideas have been racing. With that said, I need some recommendations on where to go. For context, we have between 6-8 days, and would be flying out of Boston, Massachusetts in August. I have been across much of Europe, with the exception of some heavy hitters like Portugal, much of southern Spain, Italy, Norway, and Greece. I have done a lot of that solo though, and now that she wants to come with me I am not sure of what would be a more romantic, couples destination. I was thinking the Croatian coast (Split down to Dubrovnik and maybe into Montenegro), Porto and Lisbon, Costa Brava in Spain. She wants to be by the ocean, and that’s pretty much it.
