Haad Yao or Thong Nai Pan Noi

Our take

Hey, fellow adventurers! My boyfriend and I are gearing up for an exciting two-week trip to Thailand in May 2026, and we need your help! We're torn between staying at Haad Yao/Salad, known for its vibrant atmosphere and convenience, and Thong Nai Pan Noi, which offers stunning accommodations and a serene vibe. We’re eager to relax on the beach by day and enjoy nice dinners and drinks by night. Have you stayed in either of these spots? We’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

Hello!

My boyfriend and I are planning our 2 week trip to Thailand in May 2026 and doing the following route:

3 nights Bangkok

2 nights Koh Tao

3 nights Koh Phangan

3 nights Koh Samui

2 nights Bangkok

We cannot decide where to book for Koh Phangan and the two areas we are most "stuck" between is the Haad Yao / Salad area and Thong Nai Pan Noi, as these are the two areas which seem to come back recommended the most on Google and AI.

From what we’ve researched so far Haad Yao / Salad seems better for having more going on nearby and easier access to the rest of the island, whereas Thong Nai Pan Noi looks like it has much nicer (almost 5★) accommodation, but seems quieter and a bit more remote.

Has anyone stayed in either (or both) and can share their experience, please?

Would you prioritise location/convenience, or the higher-end resort vibe?

Of a day we are mostly looking to relax at the beach and explore some of the Island; then of a night have a nice dinner and drinks afterwards.

Thanks
