Cities with the looks and vibes of Bratislava?

Our take

If you're captivated by the vibrant charm of Bratislava, you might be curious about other cities that share its unique vibe. Look to Zagreb and Vilnius for their compact old towns, with a blend of modernist architecture and inviting green spaces. Coastal cities like Riga, Klaipeda, and Tallinn offer a refreshing twist by the water. While Budapest shares cultural ties and sits along the Danube, its larger size may feel different. Each destination promises a sense of adventure, making them perfect for your next exploration!

I wonder what are some cities that have the same vibe as Bratislava? A city with a compact old town, residential neighborhoods with commie/Modernist architecture with lots of playgrounds and wide green spaces between the flats, on a large river or water body. Rougher around the edges than Prague or Maribor (other cities in the region I've been to) but relatively clean and safe.

I was thinking maybe Zagreb and Vilnius. Maybe Riga, Klaipeda and Tallinn as the coastal versions. Budapest would be culturally similar and is on the Danube but is quite larger.
